Helen Louise Hurst (Goldt)

Helen Hurst, 99, of Independence, MO passed away November 28, 2019. Visitation will be 6-8pm Wednesday, December 4, 2019 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Funeral services will be 10 am Thursday, December 5, 2019 at the chapel. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Mt. Washington Cemetery. Helen was born on January 22, 1920 in Atchison, KS to Peter and Anna (Kley) Goldt. In 1937 Helen married the love of her life W.B. Hammond Hurst. He preceded her in death on August 11, 1968. To this union 3 daughters were born Frances, Wanda and Betty. She was a longtime member of Messiah Lutheran Church and the Jackson County Board of Elections. Helen was also a member of the Eagles Club, were she loved to dance the night away with family and friends. Know to Grammy to everyone, she was dearly loved and will be forever missed by her large family and many friends. Survivors include grandchildren: Christine Bustamante, Hammond Blaine, Joe McClelland, Tina McClelland, Candi Cunningham, Theresa Blaine, David Carter, Andrea Nett, Billy Blaine and John Blaine; great grandchildren Jennifer Bustamante, Ciara Bustamante, Harrison Blaine, William Blaine, Jonathon Blaine, Jessica McClelland, Maggie McClelland, Amy Blaine, Melissa Blaine and Rebecca Blaine; great great grandchildren Caitlyn Nett ,Sage Opalka, Timothy Blaine and Austin Blaine; a large extended family and many friends. Helen is preceded in death by her husband Hammond Hurst, daughters Frances McClelland, Wanda Blaine and Betty Carter.
