Dorothy Mae (Fitzpatrick) Hurt

Dorothy May Hurt, of Independence, Missouri, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2022. She was 93 years of age.
Dorothy was born on July 15, 1928, in Independence, Missouri, the daughter of William and Venia Fitzpatrick. She was one of three children. Dorothy attended William Chrisman High School and worked for many years as a seamstress.

Dorothy loved traveling and enjoyed many cruises going to many various places with her family. She was an amazing cook, never using a recipe but creating comfort foods with hearts memory. Dorothy favored listening to country music and creating all sort of crafts being of a very creative mindset.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Linda Spendal, Joyce Darby, and William R. Hurt, Jr.; grandchildren, Robert Paul (Jill) McCorkle, Robert Scott (Jessica) McCorkle, Timothy Charles (Shelby) Darby, William Nicholas Hurt; great grandchildren, Jorden (Matt) Hale, Attisen McCorkle, Kegan McCorkle, Lucy McCorkle, Brittany Darby, Devin (Brittany) Darby; great great grandchildren, Easton and Gracy; siblings, Butch Dickens, Chuck Dickens. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Venia Fitzpatrick and her dearest husband, William R. Hurt, Sr.

A visitation and funeral service will take place on Thursday, June 16, 2022, at Carson Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64050. Family will greet guest between the hours of 9-10am with funeral services to follow directly at 10am. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Mt. Washington Cemetery, Independence, MO, committal services will begin at 11:30am, Thursday, June 13, 2022.
