Darrell Huston

Darrell Edgar Huston, 83 of Independence, MO, passed away Thur., May 15, 2003 at the Independence Health Care Center. Graveside services will be 2:30 pm, Monday, May 19, 2003 at Floral Hills Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 - 2:00 pm Monday at the George C. Carson and Sons Funeral Home. Darrell was born on March 19, 1920 to Edgar C and Hattie C (Newberry) Huston in Warsaw, MO and had lived in Sedalia, MO before moving in 1930 to Independence, where he spent most of his life. Darrell had been a Barber in the Kansas City area for several years. He had been a sheet metal worker with City Wide Heating & Cooling Inc. for 30 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Union Local # 2. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of WWII, having served in Australia & the Philippines. He was a member of the Unity Church, and the Guys and Dolls Club of Kansas City MO. On Dec. 31, 1945 Darrell married Donna B. Rawlings, They had been married for 49 years when she preceded him in death on Dec. 19, 1994. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother Clyde L. Huston, who died during WWII in Okinawa. Darrell is survived by two sons, Larry D. Huston and wife Sandy of Independence, MO and Lance A. Huston of Independence, MO. Two grandchildren, Brent Huston and wife Amy and two step great grandchildren Aubrey Linnenbringer and Dalton Linnenbringer, all of Independence, MO and Lori Youman and husband Wayne, one great grandson, Zachary Youman, all of Blue Springs, MO.
