Clarence (Clyde) Hyde, 75, of Grain Valley, MO passed away peacefully on November 24, 2018. A Memorial Service will take place at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 1, 2018 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Internment will take place at a later date. Clarence was born on August 3, 1943 in Altus, Arkansas to Clarence and Lela Mae (Krantz) Hyde. He always loved his God first, and was a true patriot and a warrior at heart. Clarence volunteered for service in the US Army at age 21 and served two tours in Vietnam, first in the 101st Airborne Division and then as a member of the 5th Special Forces Group (the Green Berets). After returning home, he went to work for General Motors where he became a Production Supervisor and retired with 37 years of service. In 1985, Clarence joined the Missouri National Guard where he reached the rank of First Sergeant and retired after serving his country for over 22 years. He, along with his wife, Janet, enjoyed traveling to Hawaii and volunteering his time to work on the USS Missouri. He was active in his loving church family at First Baptist of Grain Valley. Clarence also enjoyed volunteering as a Park Ranger at the Truman House in Independence for many years. Survivors include his loving wife of over 49 years, Janet (Lile) Hyde, son Jeff Hyde and his wife Becky; 2 grandchildren, Evan and Jesse; brother Jerry Lee Hyde and step-sister Shirley; and many wonderful friends.
