Mariano Paz Ignacio Jr.

January 20, 1934 — February 15, 2021

At the age of 87, Mariano Paz Ignacio, Jr. passed away on February 15, 2021 after a long, hard, courageous battle against multiple health problems.

He is survived by his wife, Violeta Concio Cortez Ignacio, Ph.D. of the home; his daughter, Patricia McDonald of NC; his brother, Rodolfo Ignacio and sisters Juanita Lopez and Fe Adriano Cecilia Ignacio, all of CA.

With the highest exemplary services, he retired from the United States Coast Guard after 20 years of service.
He also retired with excellence from the US Postal Service. He was a sports-minded person, being a very accomplished golfer. He got his “hole-in-one” and was honored in the 1985 publication of Golf Digest Almanac. He was also a good bowler and basketball player.

A visitation will be held on Monday, February 22, from 9-10am, with service to follow at 10am, both at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence. Full military honors will be rendered at the graveside following the service in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Contributions may be made in his memory to the American Diabetes Association.
