Robert Lowe Ingersoll, 84, of Independence, MO; passed away December 13, 2003 at Independence Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, burial in Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to the National VFW, or the American Lung Association. Robert was born February 11, 1919 to Weber and Nell Ingersoll at his grandparents home in Chicago, Il. He grew up in Oklahoma and later lived on the Longview Farms in Lee�s Summit, MO. and attended the Longview school for a short time. He married Dorothy (Jacobs) Ingersoll on April 1, 1936 in Kansas City, MO. They were married for 58 years. Robert enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942 and served as a Sergeant of the Guard on the USS Mt. Vernon in both the Atlantic and Pacific until 1945. After the war he learned the trade of carpet installation in Kansas City, Mo and in 1956 began his 35 year business "Ingersoll Brothers Installation Co.� in and around Stover, MO. He lived on a large farm with his wife and made many friends. During that time he served as Democratic Committeeman for Morgan County for over 10 years. He was a life member and Quartermaster of the VFW Post #5178 in Gravois Mills, MO. Later when he moved to Independence, he was a life member of VFW Post #1000. Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Ingersoll, November 12, 1994, and his brother William Ingersoll. He is survived by his daughter Sallie (Kirksey) Wahrenbrock and her husband Raymond, beloved companion Ruby Pennington, both of Independence, MO. Seven grandchildren: Jeffery Kirksey and his wife Deborah; Victoria Stewart and husband Wayne, Independence, MO; and Dawn DeSelms and husband Bradley, Orlando FL; Tammy and Tavo Camarena, Emporia, KS; Jeffery and Sheila Pennington, Grandview, MO; two step grandchildren Dana Wahrenbrock and husband Richard Letchinger, Chicago,IL; and Mark Wahrenbrock and wife Nancy of Columbia, MO; Fourteen great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren. One brother Richard Ingersoll and wife Eva of Kansas City, MO, and many relatives and loyal friends.
