Norma Jean Iott, 90, Independence, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, June 20, 2016. Norma was born September 23, 1925 in Independence, Missouri to Harry & Edith Nihill. There she met the love of her life, Clayton Iott at a movie theater where he swept her off her feet. They enjoyed 69 wonderful years together and lived their entire married life in Independence. Jean (as her family and friends called her) owned several businesses with Clay on the Independence Square and later retired from the Good Samaritan Center of Independence. Jean loved traveling to Wisconsin with her family, growing roses, growing and canning vegetables out of their garden, and enjoyed watching the Royals and Chiefs. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Norma Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Clayton Henry Iott; parents, Harry & Edith Nihill; and brother, Harry Nihill Jr. She is survived by daughter, Debbie; son, Daniel; son, David and wife Patti; 4 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed, but her strong Christian faith assures her family that she has been reunited with Clayton and that they will all be reunited with them in Heaven. Visitation will be at Speaks Suburban Chapel on Thursday June 23rd. from 6 to 8pm with a funeral service to follow on Friday June 24th. at 10am also at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E.39th street. Burial will be at Mount Washington Cemetery. Donations may be made in her name for breast cancer research to Susan G. Komen For The Cure.
