Mable Irwin, 87, of Independence MO, passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2012. Visitation will be from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. Thursday December 20, 2012 at Speaks Suburban Chapel; 18020 E 39th Street Independence. Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday December 21, 2012 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Burial will be at Mound Grove Cemetery.
Mable was born December 2nd, 1925 near Bridgeport, Nebraska to Alton and Lillie (Donnelly) McFarland. She grew up on the family farm outside Seymour Missouri and graduated from Seymour High School in 1944. Mable later moved to Kansas City, MO where she worked at Montgomery Ward and Emery Byrd Thayer for several years. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone and AT&T where she was a long distance telephone operator and trainer for 40 years.
Mable is survived by three daughters, Constance Mitchell Braun of Gahanna OH; Carol Mitchell Makowski and Nanette Park (Kevin) both of Independence, MO; five granddaughters, Stacey Heger; Kristin Dienst-Braun; Karin Braun Tangeman (Jeff); Kimberly Lightfoot (James); and Kelly Snyder (Matthew); eight great grandchildren; sister, Betty Mun (Ted) of San Bruno, CA and the numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roy Irwin and siblings, Gertie, Bonnie, Earl, Dorothy and Billie; and son-in-law Chris Braun.
