Russell “Dar” Darwin Irwin, 89 of Independence, passed away Sun. Jun. 10, 2012 at the Rehabilitation Center of Independence. Services will 2 pm Thu, Jun. 14 2012 at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 E. Lexington Ave. Indep. MO, 64052, with a visitation being held 1 hour prior to the service. Burial in Mt. Washington Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to River Boulevard Baptist Church, 3212 N. River, Indep. MO 64050. Russell was born on Dec. 6, 1922 to Joseph and Della (Walker) Irwin in Kansas City, MO and had been a life long resident of the Mt. Washington Area of western Independence. He had been a Maintenance worker at Mt. Washington Cemetery for almost 50 years. Russell was a loving and caring person who enjoyed working puzzles and watching Nascar Racing on TV. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and three sisters. He is survived by a sister, Ruby Irwin Wilks and husband Leon, of Independence and a brother, Edgar Martin Irwin and wife Celia, also of Independence and by many nieces and nephews.
