Jack Leonard Burnell, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away on May 3, 2024, in Lee's Summit, Missouri. He was born on November 1, 1932, in Kansas City, Missouri.
Jack led a life that was filled with love for his family and a passion for genealogy, golf, and reading. After graduating from William Chrisman High School in 1950, he went on to obtain a bachelor’s degree from Park University in 1954. Jack dedicated many years of service to Gulf Insurance before his well-deserved retirement in 1992.
Among his many passions and achievements, he took the Dale Carnegie course and obtained his insurance CPCU designation. Jack was known for his deep affection for his children and grandchildren. He showered them with love and was always present in their lives, creating lasting memories that will be cherished forever.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Barbara Burnell, his sons Charles and Barton, as well as by three grandchildren, David, Timothy and Kimberly, three great-grandchildren Hailey, Nathan and Navia a brother in law and sister in law Al and Carolyn. Additionally, there is one more great-great-grandchild on the way. He is predeceased by his parents, Leonard and Gladys Burnell.
The memories Jack leaves behind will forever be treasured by those who had the privilege of knowing him. His impact on the lives of his family and friends will never be forgotten.
Services to honor and celebrate Jack's life will be held at the Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. A visitation will take place on May 10th from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM followed by a Memorial Service at 10:00 AM. The Graveside Service will be held at Mt. Washington Cemetery following the memorial service.
In the loving memory of Jack Leonard Burnell - may he rest in peace knowing he was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed by all who knew him. In lieu of flowers a donation to United Methodist Committee on Relief would be preferred.
