Arthur Alonzo Jackson Sr. was called to rest on October 26, 2014.
He was the fourth eldest child born to Warner Luther and Vida Lucille Jackson on January 4, 1922 in Huntsville, Texas. He was proceeded in death by his father, mother, Brothers, Wilburn Warner Jr., and his sister Ruthetta. He was united in marriage to the late Theople Jane Bryant. To this union five children were born. He graduated from Sumner High School, in Kansas City, Kansas. As a young man he was very confident. He was encouraged by his older brother to become a track star, winning many awards (even at the Kansas relays).
After High School he became a salesman, selling encyclopedias and insurance. He was drafted in the Army in the early 1940’s. In the early 50’s he got into broadcasting and was a D.J. for a local black radio station. He accepted Christ at an early age at Strangers Rest. He later moved his membership to Macedonia Baptist Church were he served as an usher. He leaves to mourn, but to forever cherish his memory; son Gregory Gross, Arthur Jackson Jr.(Eleanor), Anthony Jackson, daughters, Rhonda Ortega-Dickey and Paula Jackson (Sylvester) and son Marcellus Jackson (Ann). Grandchildren, Nichelle, Monya, Jabar, Andrea, Adriann, Patrice, Marcellus, Alanah and thirteen great-grandchildren. Sisters, Evelyn Tucker (Mason), Dorothy Gray, and one brother, Timothy Jackson (Vera), nieces, nephews and friends.
