Nina Jackson, of Independence, MO, died peacefully of complications from vascular Alzheimer’s Wednesday, February 11, 2015, at the age of 86. A visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 17th at Speaks Suburban Chapel. A funeral service will follow at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park, Kansas City, MO.
Nina was born on September 1, 1928 as one of four children to William Ray and Eva (Edwards) Eidson. She moved to Kansas City, at 15, where she graduated from East High School. Afterwards, she married her beloved Frank Harlan Jackson on September 13, 1947 and together they raised two children. She was a devoted wife and mother. Nina worked at Penn Valley Community College. She was a member of Maywood Baptist Church for over 60 years and taught Sunday school.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Frank Harlan; son, William Stephen Jackson; and two sisters. Survivors include daughter, Judy Baker of Independence; grandchildren, Julie Taylor, Michele Read, Bill Baker, Matthew and Zachary Jackson; three great grandchildren; and sister, Betty Jo Burkhart.
