Franklin C. Jaekel, 91 of Independence passed away Mon, Apr. 26, 2004 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 11:00 am Thur, Apr 29, 2004 at Messiah Lutheran Church, 613 S. Main Street, Independence, MO. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will be held at 3:00 pm in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Lincoln, MO. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Messiah Lutheran Church. Mr. Jaekel was born on Dec. 24, 1912, near Lincoln, MO, in Benton County. He was one of seven children born to August L. Jaekel, Jr., and Kuniegunde (Schleier) Jaekel. Mr. Jaekel was baptized and confirmed in Zion Lutheran Church in Lincoln, MO. In 1943, he moved to Independence, MO. He then joined Messiah Lutheran Church, where he was a member for nearly 60 years. On Sept. 13, 1946, he married his lifelong friend, Anna Wilhelmina Rambow. He worked for 32 years for Armco Steel Corporation, retiring in 1975. He was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Jaekel, in 1996 and by four sisters, Auguste Katharine Barbara Jaekel, Frieda Sophie Katherine McGrady, Alma Wilhelmine Margarethe Kreissler, and Katherine Dorothea Karoline Jaekel, and two brothers, Georg Wilhelm Christian Jaekel and Otto August Louis Jaekel. He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Jaekel, of Kansas City, MO, two grandchildren, Bentley Miller of Kansas City, MO and Michael Miller of St. Louis, MO and many nieces and nephews.
