James Leonard Green, 87 of Independence, MO passed away Friday, August 25, 2023, at his residence. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday evening at the Speaks Suburban Chapel with cremation to follow. Inurnment will be at Kirk Cemetery in Allendale, MO at a later date. Donations may be made in his name to the Oakwood Baptist Church, 7600 Lee’s Summit Rd., Kansas City, MO 64139. James was born May 29, 1936, in Kansas City, MO to Joseph Leonard and Erma Lee (Moon) Green and has been a lifelong area resident graduating from Northeast High School in 1954. He had worked for over 27 years as a delivery man for Colonial Bakery before he retired in 1993. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and most of all, spending time with his family. He was a member of the Teamsters Union, was a Boy Scout leader and member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, where he was an Honorary Warrior. He was married to Leolive Wood on August 25, 1956, and they celebrated exactly 67 years of marriage. Other survivors include a daughter, Lisa Clark and husband Gary of Independence, MO; a son, James Green and his wife Lori of Lee’s Summit, MO; 5 grandchildren, Kellee Clark, Nathan Clark (Ashley), Brandon Green (Brittany) Brooke Johnson (Brennan) and Brody Green (Grace) and 4 great grandchildren, Emmett Clark, Nora Clark, Alan James Green and Leolive Rose Johnson. He was preceded in death by; his parents, and 2 brothers, Larry Louthain and Joseph Lee Green.
