Pamela Lee James

April 6, 1953 — April 24, 2014

Pamela Lee James of Blue Springs, MO passed away on April 24, after an eight month battle with brain cancer. Visitation will be held 1-3 pm, Sat., May 3 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Private committal will be held later at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens in Independence. Memorial contributions are preferred to American Cancer Society. Pam was born in Independence MO on April 6, 1953 to Richard and Nancy James. She attended William Chrisman High School, where she graduated in 1971. Pam started her career at several retail and printing companies, then joined MeraVic as Advertising and Merchandising Manager in 1985. Pam later joined Banta Publications Group (RR Donnelley) on June 14, 1993 and worked as Customer Service Representative, Customer Service Team Leader and then as Project Lead until becoming ill in September 2013. Pam loved her work family; enjoying many friendships with fellow employees from the manufacturing floor all the way to the corporate level. Pam was very athletic and enjoyed many sports, including softball and tennis. She played on a number of leagues and participated in numerous tournaments, as well as sponsoring local teams. Pam was very organized and mechanically minded, and she always had a project going on. She loved woodworking, home décor and design, landscaping, and was extremely creative and artistic. Pam “never met a stranger” and was very outgoing, friendly, and her love of life was absolutely contagious. Pam will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Pam was preceded in death by her father, Richard Gilliam James, Jr; her maternal grandparents Walter and Artie Clifton; paternal grandparents Richard and Alice James; brother-in-law Tom Pack; and a number of aunts and uncles. Pam is survived by her mother and step-father, Nancy and James Stucker of Hamilton MO; her sister Linda Pack, also of Hamilton; her beloved dog, Sofie Lee James; very special friends Virginia Davis, Kathy Golden, Sheryl Lamkin, Monica Lundquist, and Cyndi Penyock; and very special neighbors Kim, Kevin, Kaylan and Koral Richardson. Pam also leaves behind a wide circle of great friends, her Banta/RR Donnelley work family, and a number of aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend special thanks to Pam’s wonderful group of home caregivers, the caring nurses and doctors at Kansas City Hospice and Kansas City Hospice House, Dr. Larry Rosen and Dr. David Shaeffer, and all of the special health care workers at Center Point Medical Center and Research Medical Center who cared for Pam during her illness.
