Janice Ault

August 18, 1940 — September 15th, 2024

Janice Carrol Ault, daughter of the late Wayne and Vinita (Sluder) Hilt, was born August 18th, 1940, in Mountain Grove, Missouri, and passed away September 15th, 2024, at Wilshire at Lakewood Care Center, Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She was 84 years of age.

Janice grew up in Norwood, Missouri. She and her husband Ted were married on September 27th, 1957 and she then graduated from Norwood High School with the class of 1958. The two of them relocated to Independence, Missouri where they lived and raised their family. She was a very loving wife, mother and grandmother. 

In the early years of her marriage, she worked as a waitress and she also provided home child care for several families.

She loved God with all her heart and she faithfully attended 1st Assembly of God church in Independence, Missouri where she actively served for over 60 years. She was a loyal example of love and servanthood to her family and to all who knew her. She loved and cherished her children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events and recitals. She loved to travel, read, cook and work in her flower gardens. 

Besides her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her husband, Earnest (Ted) Ault, her daughter, Rhonda McKeehan, her brother Jerald Hilt and her sister-in-law, Sharon Hilt and Vonna Hilt who were waiting for her as she arrived in heaven.

She is survived by 2 brothers Van Hilt and wife Jo, and Ronnie Hilt and wife Lana. She was also survived by 2 of her children, Jeffery Ault and Linda Cunningham and her son-in-law’s, Mark Cunningham and Jim McKeehan. She had 4 grandchildren, Dustin Allen and wife Ashley, Weston Cunningham, Melissa McKeehan and Austin Cunningham. She also had numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family and friends that she loved and appreciated dearly. 

Services for Janice will take place Saturday, Sept. 21st, 2024 at Carson Speaks Chapel located at 1501 W. Lexington Ave.Independence, MO. The family will greet guest for visitation between the hours of 1-2 pm and funeral service will begin at 2pm. 

Janice will be laid to rest in Mt. Washington Cemetery located at 614 S Brookside Ave, Independence, MO. Directly following the funeral service.
