Janice Ann Childers

February 23, 1953 — July 23, 2024

Janice Ann Childers, a beloved soul known for her warm heart and infectious smile, passed away on July 23, 2024 in Kansas City, Missouri. Janice was born on February 23rd to Wayne and Edith (Knipper) Huggins in Kansas City, Kansas and that’s where she spent most of her youth.

Janice dedicated herself to the service industry, spending most of her years as a food service worker. She also embraced a new role as a preschool teacher for many years when her granddaughter Bailee reached that tender age. Janice's nurturing nature shone through in all aspects of her life, especially as a hands-on grandma who adored her grandchildren with unwavering love. Her vibrant personality shone brightly in every room she entered - never knowing a stranger, always outgoing, kind-hearted, generous, and deeply caring for those around her.

Outside of work and family, Janice found joy in various hobbies and interests that brought color to her days. In her youth, she enjoyed the thrill of riding motorcycles. As she got older she cherished serene moments canoeing and camping with Don by her side. Janice was also an amazing cook and cooking became a special way to bond with her daughter, Tricia. They created many tasty meals and tried numerous family recipes throughout the years.

Janice Ann Childers leaves behind cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of her surviving family members- her beloved husband of over 35 years, Donald Childers; daughter, Tricia (Estrada) Middleton (Ryun); grandchildren, Audrie Estrada and Bailee Middleton; brother, Brian Huggins (Jeri); sister, Sheila Taylor; furry companion, Tin Tin and numerous nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dennis Huggins and beloved dog, Shiloh.

Janice is in the care of Speaks Chapel, there will be no services at this time. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to an organization Janice held close to her heart, the KC Pet Project. Her love for animals reflected her tender spirit towards all living creatures.
