Janita Irene Smith, 76 of Blue Springs, Mo passed away Sunday, March 10, 2024 at Centerpoint Medical Center.  Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 16, 2024 at the St. John Lalande Catholic Church in Blue Springs, MO with cremation to follow.  The family will greet friends from 10:00 a.m., until service time Saturday at the church.  Janita was born March 11, 1947 in Independence, MO to William Arthur and Elma Jean (Winfrey) Fann and has been a lifelong area resident.  She had worked as an accounting clerk most recently for Hantover Corporation prior to her retirement.  She enjoyed all kinds of crafting, sewing, crocheting and playing the lottery.  She was a member of St. John Lalande Catholic Church.  She is survived by; her husband of 57 years, Gerald of the home; 3 sons, Anthony Smith and his wife Melissa of Lone Jack, MO, Matthew Smith and wife Jeanne of Overland Park, KS and Christopher Smith of Independence, MO; a brother, Lee Fann and wife Donna of Stockton, MO 6 grandchildren, Derek, Alison, Jake, Rylie, Reagan and Tyler and 2 great grandchildren, Taytum and Kaden.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sherry.
