Anthony Steve “Tony” Jasso, 92, Sugar Creek, MO, concluded the celebration of his life peacefully on Sunday, July 6, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:30 am, Sat., July 12 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, 10113 E. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64053; interment at Mound Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 pm, Friday at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. The family requests contributions to St. Ann’s Church. Tony was born May 14, 1922 to immigrant parents in Sugar Creek, MO. Steve Thomas and Theresa (Zilinec) Jasso immigrated from Czechoslovakia. Tony was a devout Catholic. He was a member of St. Ann’s Parish. He married his high school sweetheart, Virginia Boosinger, on June 11, 1942. They were married sixty-nine and one-half years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy for five years in the South Pacific Theater during WW II. He was a custom home builder and real estate developer in Jackson County for over thirty years. The last twelve years of his career were spent as Public Works Administrator for the City of Sugar Creek. He was a Sugar Creek City Council member for twenty-seven years, served on the Board of Directors of Standard State Bank, St. Mary’s High School School Board, Boy Scout Leader, sponsored and supported baseball teams, past Vice President of the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and many more civic organizations. One of his greatest pleasures was spending time with his family - especially his grandchildren. He loved fishing and spending time at his weekend home at Lake Lotawana and traveling the world. Tony was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Jasso; infant son Joseph; daughter Theresa Holland and granddaughter Jennifer Frank. He is survived by his children Toni Anne Holmes and husband Michael, Michael Jasso and wife Linda; Nina Sue Mills; son-in-law Earl Holland; grandchildren Brett Holland, Adam Holmes, Zachary Hagan, Melissa Oxley, Eric Jasso, Ryan Holland and Andrew Jasso; great-grandchildren Blake, Ella, Evan, Kate, Brooks, Brady, Hannah, Abe, Joshua, Mary Alice, Amelia and Liam.
