Jeanne Marie Brown, a cherished educator and passionate artist, passed away on March 6, 2025, at the age of 69 in Kansas City, Missouri. Born on June 22, 1955, in Independence, Missouri, Jeanne lived a life rich with creativity, exploration, and a deep commitment to nurturing the artistic talents of countless students throughout her career.
Jeanne dedicated herself to education, working for various school districts where she began teaching elementary school art classes. Her journey blossomed into a fulfilling career that saw her inspiring high school students. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Central Missouri, which laid the foundation for her lifelong passion for art and education. Her commitment to her profession was further exemplified by her membership in ATF Union #691, underscoring her dedication to her colleagues and the field of education. Throughout her life, Jeanne carried with her fond memories of her youth spent in the embrace of nature and family. Growing up on an apple orchard, she and her siblings enjoyed vast land to explore, fostering a spirit of adventure and appreciation for the outdoors. One of her most cherished companions was her large quarter horse, Shorty, with whom she shared a profound bond. Jeanne's love extended beyond her home; each summer, her family would embark on camping trips that allowed them to travel the continent, embracing all that nature had to offer. A true lover of the arts, Jeanne found joy in visiting museums and art fairs whenever she could. Her passion for creativity was evident not only in her teaching but in her own pursuits, as she sought to immerse herself in the artistic expressions that surrounded her.
Jeanne's passing was preceded by her parents, Arthur and Rose Mary (Kasper) Brown, and her brother, Daniel Brown. Her loving legacy lives on through her brother, David Brown.
Jeanne's memory will be honored during a visitation at Carson-Speaks Chapel in Independence, Missouri, on March 19, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM. Friends and loved ones are invited to gather to celebrate the life and legacy of a remarkable woman who touched many lives through her kindness, artistry, and dedication to teaching.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jeanne's honor to the American Cancer Society or the American Diabetes Association.
