Ralston Fielding Jennings died June 4, 2007 at his home. He was born in Delhart, TX on July 7, 1911 to James and Eliza Jennings. He lived in Texas until moving to Andover, KS at the age of 9 where he graduated from Andover High School in 1929. Ralston met his bride to be, Edna Harriet Marshall, while in high school. Edna played basketball for Leon High School and Ralston played basketball for Andover High School. Ralston and Edna were married on June 6, 1937, and lived in Wichita, KS until moving to Independence in 1982. Ralston and Edna have 2 children; Son Ronald Jennings, DDS, and wife Anna, live in Independence. Daughter Mary Clark and husband, Larry live in Odessa, MO. They also have 4 grandsons, Steve Gunlock of Odessa, Brad Jennings of Independence, MO, Jonathan Jennings and wife Misty of Lee’s Summit, MO and Ryan Jennings of Independence, MO. They have 4 great grandsons and 2 great granddaughters. After graduation from high school, Ralston attended Wichita Business College and was an electrician at Kansas Gas & Electric Company for 40 years. He retired in 1976 as supervisor of the Underground and Substation Departments. Ralston was member of the Community of Christ and held the priesthood office of Patriarch/Evangelist. While living in Wichita, he helped to build Central Branch’s new building and was pastor of the congregation for several years. Ralston was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. He is survived by his wife Edna, of the home, and one brother, Emery Jennings of Independence, MO. Cremation is planned with a “Celebration of Life” memorial planned for July 8, 2007. Ralston was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was a loved and honored by all who knew him.
