Clarice Jensen

August 11, 1913 — March 9, 2004

Clarice Jensen, 90, a longtime resident of Independence, MO passed away Monday, March 8, 2004 at Sweet Life of Rosehill Nursing Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 9 am Thursday, March 11th at St. Mary�s Catholic Church; with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. A Rosary will be said at 6:30 pm Wednesday, with visitation following at George C. Carson & Sons Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Alzheimer�s Assn. Mrs. Jensen was born August 11, 1913 in the Northeast area of Kansas City, MO. She moved to Independence in 1938 when she married Milton Jensen. Together, they operated the Eight Gables Tavern. Shortly afterward, they opened Mitt Jensen Tourist Court, which they operated until the 1970�s. They also provided thousands of children with memorable fun when they ran 24 Highway Kidieland from 1954 to 1968. Mrs. Jensen recently donated the land where Kidieland used to be located to the Independence, MO School District. Mrs. Jensen also worked at Montgomery Ward. Mrs. Jensen was preceded in death by her husband Mitt and a son, Robert Lee. She is survived by her sons, Donald Billings and wife Steffie, and George W. Jensen and wife Vicky; grandchildren, Vicky Campbell and husband Dave, Mindy Hooks and husband Robert, Kathy Billings, Christina Jensen, and Clarice Jensen; great grandchildren, Brandy and Ashley Hooks, and Gus and Sam Campbell.
