Jerry Alvin Coe

November 19, 1937 — October 25, 2024

Jerry Alvin Coe, a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend, passed away on October 25, 2024, at the age of 86. Born in Hastings, Minnesota on November 19, 1937 to Alvin “Harold” and Dora (Hull) Coe, Jerry was known throughout his life for his jovial spirit, kind heart, and mischievous prankster nature, bringing laughter and joy to those around him.

A proud graduate of William Chrisman High School, Jerry's thirst for knowledge led him to earn a bachelor's degree in business from Rockhurst College. For over 40 years, he dedicated his professional life to TWA Airlines, mostly in the finance department, a testament to both his work ethic and loyalty.

Outside of his career, Jerry's life was filled with passion and adventure. He was an avid fly fisherman, often finding solace casting lines for trout in the serene waters of Bennett Spring and immersing himself in nature. He was a big Chiefs football fan, enjoyed golfing, playing softball, dancing, participating in karaoke and showing off his talents with a yo-yo and ping pong paddle. Beyond these pursuits, Jerry was a camping enthusiast, enjoyed traveling and even relocated his family to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for 6 years.

As a lover of the arts in his later years, Jerry discovered a new passion for painting at the retirement home, wholeheartedly believing he was a true artist. He expressed his vibrant personality through colorful brush strokes, creating artwork that brought smiles to the faces of his friends and family.

Jerry leaves behind a legacy marked by kindness and unwavering friendship. Although his departure from this world brings great sadness, we find comfort in the beautiful memories shared with him. His spirit will continue to shine brightly in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Jerry is survived by his daughters, Mindy VanPool (William), Sherry Eldreth (Harley) and step-daughter, Jacque Jenkins (Kevin); grandchildren, Sean Lusby, Samantha Floyd (Ryan), Holly Lusby (Ian Arnold) and Nicholas VanPool; great-grandchildren, Skyann Lusby, Hayden Floyd and Lincoln Floyd.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Ramona (Reynolds) Coe; brother, Larry Coe and parents Harold and Dora Coe.

Jerry was a man of Catholic faith. The Rite of Committal and burial will be attended by immediate family members at Woodlawn cemetery in Independence, Mo.
