Andrew "Simon" Joe

Andrew “Simon” Joe, 88 of Independence, MO passed away Thursday, August 27, 2020 at Centerpoint Medical Center. A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday. September 1, 2020 at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Simon was born April 8, 1932 in Webb City, MO to Sam and Julia (Barnes) Joe and has been a longtime area resident. He had worked for General Motors where he retired as a stockman in 1988 after over 30 years of service. He proudly served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict where he was awarded 2 Purple Hearts for injuries he suffered during combat. He enjoyed boating, fishing and spending time at the lake and had a part-time business working on TV’s and radios and later small engine repair. He was a member of the Central Assembly of God Church in Independence, MO. He married Loretha (Garrett) on January 13, 1953; she survives of the home. Other survivors include; 3 children, Pamela Gafford of Pleasant Hill, MO; Phillip Josephson and wife Ruth Ann of Blue Springs, MO and Donna Dabbs and husband Ron of Oak Grove, MO; a sister, Elizabeth Martha Sizer of Sacramento, CA; 6 grandchildren, Melissa, Amy, Lisa, Michael, Mark and David and 9 great grandchildren.
