Alva Joe Wilson was born September 26, 1938, to Goldie and Alva Wilson in Marshall, MO. He passed away on June 6, 2018, at Northcare Hospice House.
Joe graduated from Marshall High School in 1956, and, leaving behind his high school sweetheart, entered the Navy to serve in aviation ordnance on the U.S.S. Hancock. Loading bombs on fighter jets was just the job for the fearless Joe Wilson.

Joe’s career found him with the U.S. Postal Service, PepsiCo, Sunshine-Keebler, Safeway/Food Barn, Wonder Bread/Hostess and Price Chopper. He finally retired about five years ago. Joe is a lifetime member of the USS HANCOCK CV/CVA-19 ASSOCIATION.
Joe and Donna were married for 50 years until her death in 2010. Joe is also preceded in death by his mother, Goldie, his father, Alva, and his brother Don, along with numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He is survived by daughter Beth Wilson (Becky), of Dallas, Texas; son Jeff Wilson (Brenda), of Independence; granddaughter Jenna Wieberg (Justin), of Lee’s Summit, and their children Cooper and Kinley, and granddaughter Aimee Morton (Brett), of Independence, and their son Emmett.
