Michael Lee Johansen, 52, of Independence, MO, passed away Saturday June 23, 2007 at North Kansas City Hospital. Cremation is planned with a memorial service to be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 28, 2007 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel with visitation to follow. Donations may be made to the H. Roe Bartle Scout Reservation, 5525 NE Scout Camp Road Osceola, MO 64776-9000. Michael was born May 18, 1955 in Borne, MA to Gerald and Norma Jean (Glass) Johansen. He was a 1973 graduate of Van Horn High School and had worked as a computer technician for the City of Independence for over 15 years before he retired in 1992. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing the trumpet and was a member of the Maywood Baptist Church. Michael was very active in scouting. He was a member of the Tribe of Mic-O-Say, he was a Eagle Scout and Scout Master for Troop #221. He was known by his Indian name of Keeper of the Sacred Bundle, Falling Spinning Leaf and his son, Eric was known as son of the Keeper of the Sacred Bundle, Swift Roaming Bear in Dense Forest. Michael is survived by; a son, Eric Johansen of Kansas City, MO; a daughter, Melissa Johansen of Kansas City, MO; his father, Gerald F. Johansen of Independence, MO; 3 sisters, Marsha Billuris of Excelsior Springs, MO, Debra Rich of Independence, MO and Carla Zackula of Richmond, MO; 2 uncles, Larry Glass and Darell Glass both of Independence, MO; 2 aunts, Margaret Kouri and her husband Bill of Chandler, AZ and Charlene Johansen of El Paso, TX and neices and newphews Kristiana Musselman, Jeremy Zackula, Erin M. Rich, Stacy Rich and Jennifer Keeran who loved him very much. Michael was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Glass-Johansen. Mike was also preceded in death by his newphew Jeffery Billuris.
