John Jay Heiter, a husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on April 16, 2024, in Independence, Missouri.
John was born to Arthur M Heiter and Fern Richardson Heiter on July 6, 1937, in Springfield, Missouri. During his lifetime, John served four years in the United States Army before embarking on a career that showcased his strong work ethic and commitment. His passion for driving extended beyond his profession; it symbolized his unwavering dedication to provide for his family and loved ones. After his time in the service, he met the love of his life, Irene. They vowed their devotion to one another and from that union came two sons. Described as witty, quick, and humble, John had a remarkable ability to find humor in any situation. His infectious laughter filled rooms even during difficult times, bringing warmth and joy to those around him. He had a special talent for lightening the mood and making others smile. One of John's proudest accomplishments was not only raising his children but also being an exceptional grandfather to his grandchildren. He shared a unique bond with them, always being their best friend and biggest supporter. Whether it was attending their events or cheering them on from the sidelines, he never missed an opportunity to show his love and encouragement.
A visitation will be held at the First Baptist Church of Buckner on April 20, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service at 11:00 AM to honor and celebrate the life of John Jay Heiter.
John is preceded in death by his parents, his son; Gary Allen Heiter, and his brothers; Kenneth Heiter, William Heiter, Theodore (Nubbin) Heiter, and Robert Heiter. John's legacy will continue to live on through his wife of 62 years, Irene; his son, John Michael Heiter (Mickie), his three grandchildren; Zane Michael Heiter, Brenna Mackenzie Heiter, and Teagan Matthew Heiter.
