John William (Bill) Nix gained his wings on December 31, 2024. He passed peacefully surrounded by family at Centerpoint Medical Center, Independence, MO. Bill was born on March 24, 1949 in Springfield, MO to William and Bernice Nix. He married the love of his life, Linda Holland on January 10, 1970 and have been together for 55 years. They have lived their lifetime in Independence, Missouri. Together they have two wonderful daughters: Lindy O’Rourke (Ryan) and Mindy, both of Independence, MO. He has two beautiful granddaughters Ashley O’Rourke and Autumn O’Rourke.
Bill is preceded in death by his father: William Nix, mother: Bernice Nix, sister: Belinda Gauthreaux. His surviving siblings are: Donna (Chris) Isariotis, Brad (Rene) Nix, Martha Wright, Jeff (Miguel Murillo) Nix, Karen (Jason) Pettes. He also has multiple nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews.
Bill retired as the “Service Coordinator” in 2010 after working 42 years at Diamond International Trucks, previously known as KCR International Trucks / International Harvester. Bill loved spending time with his wife, Linda and family whether it be at gatherings or on vacations, tinkering with cars in his garage and outdoor projects. He enjoyed spending time with his many friends, whether it was working in the garage or just sitting and visiting. He loved going to car shows.
He served his country for 7+ years with the Missouri Army National Guard. One of his proudest assignments was standing as the Honor Guard at President Truman’s funeral.
He will be missed by all that “loved” him.
