Alan Johnson, loved by family and friends as “Uncle Al, the kiddies pal,” died suddenly and unexpectedly early Sunday morning, December 19, 2021 from complications caused by a dissecting aortic aneurysm. Despite outstanding medical and nursing care at Lee Summit Medical Center, the stress on Alan's body was too severe and he passed away just before dawn.
Alan graduated from Truman High School in 1980. He obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science following studies at the Kansas City Business College and William Jewell College. That bit of schooling launched him on a career in IT that took him from Panhandle Eastern to UST Global, where he was a Director. He traveled frequently to India and forged many friendships there.
Alan loved riding motocross, skiing and staying busy as an amateur geologist. But what really made him special was his big heart. He was full of joy and jokes, but also was always ready to help anyone having a tough time. He could talk to you for hours and keep you entertained. Although he has passed from this life, his spirit of kindness and love lives on.
He is mourned and cherished by his three sons—Justin, Ryan and Cody--, a grandson, Canyon, a daughter-in-law, Lacey, his sisters Susan and Mary, his older brother Larry and his 87 year old mother.
