Carolyn Avis Johnson, 75 of Independence, MO passed away Saturday, March 18, 2017 at St. Mary’s Medical Center. Cremation is planned with a memorial gathering to be held from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Friday evening, March 24, 2017 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Inurnment will be held privately in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO. Carolyn was born March 2, 1942 in Rockford, IL to Haile and Pauline Jones. She had worked as a chef at the Federal Building, The Hyatt and most recently Ozark National Life Insurance Company until she retired in 2013. She enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with family. She was a member of Timothy Lutheran Church in Blue Springs, MO. Survivors include; a daughter, Kari Kimball and husband Steve of Independence, MO; a son, Lee Johnson of Centerview, MO and 2 grandchildren, Austin Kimball and Brandon Kimball.
