David W. Johnson, 82, of Independence MO, passed away peacefully on April 11, 2018. A visitation will be held Monday, April 16th from 10-11:30am at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence MO, 64055. A graveside service with full military honors will follow at 12pm at Mt. Washington Mausoleum, 614 Brookside Ave., Independence MO, 64053.
David was born February 10, 1936 in Hoquiam WA to Alfred and Edith (Nelson) Johnson. After graduating from Aberdeen High School, David joined the United States Navy and proudly served on the USS Hornet from 1956-1961. He is survived by his daughter, Meredith Ivey of Smithville MO and three step-daughters, Lorena Rogers (Danny) of Independence MO; Vickie Smith of Ruston LA; and Donna Clark (David) of Sibley MO; 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Nancy; his sister Marilyn Anderson; his son Michael Johnson; his step-son Dennis Wilson; and his great-grandson Dennis Burd.
