Edward L. Johnson, 75, Independence, MO passed away Saturday, September 8, 2007 at his home. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:00 am, Wednesday, Sept. 12 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church; burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6-8:00 pm Tuesday at Carson-Speaks Chapel with a prayer service beginning at 6:00 pm.
Eddie was born May 29, 1932 in Redland, OK to Mack and Martha Johnson. He served in the U.S. Army and then worked as an electrical foreman for Missouri Portland Cement-LaFarge for 43 years before his retirement. Eddie enjoyed hunting and fishing, gardening, racing, and western movies. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the BoyScouts Troop 221 for twelve years.
Eddie is survived by his wife of 52 years Mary (Verhulst) Johnson, three sons: Richard (Sue) Johnson, Tim (Marian) Johnson, and Mark (Kim) Johnson, granddaughter Melanie Johnson, five step-grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren, two brothers: Willard Johnson of Independence and Carl Johnson of Cole Camp, MO, eight sisters: Grace Johnson of Urbana, MO, Wanda Johnson of Urbana, MO, Phyllis Boutross of Independence, Deanna Tierney of Independence, Mildred Warrix of Urbana, MO, Joyce Johnson of Cole Camp, MO, Brenda Lindstrom of Riley, KS and Debra Wright of Olathe, KS, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Monroe Johnson.
