Gary Arthur Johnson Sr.

Gary Arthur Johnson, Sr., of Independence, Missouri, passed away on Tuesday, November 1st, 2022, at his residence. He was 78 years of age.
Gary was born on June 11, 1944, in De Soto, Missouri, to Charles and Dorothy (Atkins) Johnson, Sr.. He graduated high school and went on to be a telecommunications engineer, working with AT&T for twenty-seven and Sprint for twelve years. It was through work where he met the love of his life, Diann. They later married, blending two families into one. Gary was a loving, selfless, and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was well known for his dry sense of humor and his generous heart. Gary would drop anything and everything to help those he loved and cared for- especially his grandchildren. In his free time, Gary loved to watch Gunsmoke, read, and travel.
Gary is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Dorothy Hedger; brothers, Charles Johnson Jr. and Jon Johnson.; daughter, JoAnne; and He is survived by his wife, Diann; son, Gary Johnson Jr (Michelle); daughter, Teresa Herron (Mike Baker); and grandchildren, Carolyn Johnson, Grant Johnson, and Olivia Johnson.
Cremation is planned with a private family memorial to be held at a later date.
