Harry N. Johnson, of Independence, MO, born November 24, 1926 passed away on his 88th birthday. Friends and family are encouraged to remember him at his finest.
Harry was born of Clifton and Leila (Simmons) Johnson in Clarksburg, WV. He graduated from Washington Irving High School, and from August, 1944 - June 1946 proudly served in the United States Navy, on a mine sweeper, during World War II. He also attended Graceland College, where he played basketball, West Virginia Weslyan, and Wayne State receiving his Masters Degree in Education. Harry lived Michigan for over 31 years, working from 1951 - 1983 in the Detroit School Systems in numerous positions, including physical education, drivers education teacher, and coach. He was a member and active Priesthood member of the RLDS Church, South Crysler Restoration Branch. He was a master gardener and enjoyed growing tomatoes as much as he enjoyed being a sports enthusiast. Harry is loved and will be missed.
He leaves behind wife, Venna M. (Stevens) Johnson of the home; daughter, Jaime Cooper and husband Ward; son, Tom Johnson and wife Jeanne; daughter, Kelly Williams; son, Andy Johnson; daughter, Terry Shaw and husband Mike; numerous grandchildren; and brother, Fred Johnson and wife Nancy and many nieces and nephews who will miss him.
