Kathleen Johnson, 93, of Independence, MO passed away January 15, 2018. Visitation will be from 9-10am Friday, January 19, 2018 at Carson-Speaks Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 10am at the chapel. Burial will take place in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Kathleen was born on January 14, 1925 in Callao, MO to Arthur and Virginia (Morris) Grimshaw. After moving to the Independence/Kansas City area in 1943 she meet the love of life, Irving Johnson. They were married on October 11, 1946. He preceded her in death in 1981. For over 29 years, Kathleen worked for Safeway, retiring as a Contract Analyst. Prior to her work with Safeway, she was a fashion designer and owned her own store. Kathleen was active in ABWA, Cara Chapter, even receiving the Woman of the Year award. She was a volunteer at the Bingham-Waggoner Estate for over 25 years. She attended Glenwood Park, Melrose Methodist Church, and East Minister Presbyterian Church. Survivors include; son David Johnson and his wife Jeanine; daughter Jackie Cecil and her husband Edward; 2 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; a large extended family and many friends.
