Ruby J. “Sugar” Johnson, 76, Independence, MO passed away Dec. 14, 2018. Memorial services will be at 2 pm, Friday, Dec. 21 at Speaks Suburban Chapel., 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; cremation. Visitation will begin at 1 pm before the service at the chapel.
Ruby was born Nov. 2, 1942 in Kansas City, MO and graduated from East High School in the Class of 1960. She was the office manager of Star Motors in Brookside and Merriam, KS for many years. She attended First Regular Baptist Church and later First Baptist Church of Raytown. She was a NASCAR fan and pulled for Jeff Gordon. She was also a fan of the Chiefs and Royals. She enjoyed fishing for crappie, camping, playing cards and spending Winters in Arizona with her husband. Most of all she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ruby is survived by her husband Ken “Buz” Johnson, of the home; daughter Kelley Fones, Independence, MO; sister-in-law Laura Lee Keeling and husband Aubrey, Independence, MO; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
