Earlene Johnston

Earlene Jane Johnston, 83, formerly of Independence, MO passed away Nov. 13, 2018. Visitation will be 1-2 pm, Sat., Nov. 17 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Graveside services will follow at 2:30 pm at Woodlawn Cemetery. The family requests contributions to Three Rivers Hospice, 700 Branch St., Ste. 1, Platte City, MO 64079. Earlene was born Jan. 24, 1935 in Leavenworth, KS and lived in Independence since 1956. She was Catholic and was a member of St. Ann’s Parish. She enjoyed collecting old toys, old newspapers and turned her love of doll collecting into a book she co-authored on the subject. She built a cabin for her family on the lake in LaCygne, KS where she spent many happy times with her family. Earlene was preceded in death by her husband Richard ”Slick” Johnston in 1979. She is survived by son Rick Johnston and wife Debbie, Kearney, MO; daughter Vicki Whitford and husband Wade, Lone Jack, MO; son Mike Johnston and wife Amy, Liberty, MO; nine grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren.
