Lois (Marian) Johnston
Former Glasgow resident Lois (Marian) Johnston, passed away peacefully in her Shawnee home, Monday February 28, 2022. She was 94 years of age.
Lois Johnston was born in Blue Springs, MO on September 6, 1927, the daughter of Clyde and Georgia (Vinyard) Tennis.
She married Wilbur Johnston on February 15, 1985, in Miami, OK. The couple moved to Glasgow in 2000 and in 2001 they opened and managed the Glasgow Food Pantry. She and Wilbur were active in civic organizations and always willing to help those in need. They were members of the Glasgow Chamber of Commerce and the Glasgow United Methodist Church and in 2004 they were named Glasgow Citizens of the Year.
Lois was beautiful inside and out, always rooting for the underdog and helping anyway she could. She wrote three government grants and was truly dedicated to helping those in need and making a true difference. She and Wilbur loved to travel, one of Lois favorite places was Africa. Lois loved her family fiercely, she loved being a mother and especially a grandmother. She had a great faith and served the Lord in her works every day. Lois will be greatly missed.
Lois is survived by her daughter, Sandra Zuzich; Stepchildren, Greg (Pat) Johnston, Sherry Brown, Lynda Bashara; grandchildren, Jessie (Jason) Romfo, Justin (Katie) Stout, Jason Girard; great grandchildren, Carter, Cayden, and Bella Romfo; 2 nieces, 1 nephew and 1 sister. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wilbur Johnston; son, Kevin Zuzich and sister, JoAnn Mitchell.
A Visitation will take place Monday March 7, 2022, at Speaks Buckner Chapel, 300 Adams, Buckner, MO 64016. Family will greet guest between the hours of 1:00 - 2:00 pm. Services will follow at 2:00 pm. Interment will be private.
In Lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to the Glasgow Food Pantry, 411 2nd St., Glasgow, MO 65254.
