Daniel Clinton Jones, 75, of Independence, MO, died Friday, January 11, 2019. A visitation will be held on Friday, January 18, 2019 at 9:00am at Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 E 39th St. Independence, MO 64055, followed by a service at 10am. Burial will follow at Mt. Washington. Daniel was born January 23, 1943 in Kansas City, MO to Jess and Beulah (Bryant) Jones and was one of six siblings. After graduating from Northeast High School, Daniel went right to work for The Kansas City Board of Trade before he met and married Velma Conn in 1963. After nearly three years marriage, he was drafted into the Army, serving for two years and being honorably discharged. Once he returned home, Daniel and Velma welcomed a son, Daniel II. Daniel went back to work and dedicated a total 46 years to his career with The Kansas City Board of Trade as the Vice-President of Floor Operations before retirement in 2006. In his leisure time, Daniel enjoyed bowling and his bowling league, yardwork, watching the races, Chief and Royals and any other sporting event, and in his younger years, he spent hours with his son, teaching him every sport he could. Daniel is preceded in death by both parents; and a brother, Gary Jones. He is survived by his wife Velma Jones; son Daniel Clinton II; grandchildren Anthony, Jeffrey and Bailey Jones; great grandchildren Izaak and Kaylee Jones; three brothers Jess, Norman, and Glen “Ross”; and brother Larry Jones is unknown.
