Flossie Ray Jones (Sowell)

Flossie Ray Jones, 88, Independence, MO passed away Oct. 30, 2017. Services will be 2 pm, Wed., Nov. 8 at Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052; interment at Mt. Washington Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 1 pm before the service at the chapel. The family requests contributions to the charity of your choice. Flossie was born Nov. 8, 1928 in rural Stewart County, TN. After coming to the Kansas City area she worked at Faultless Cleaners for fifteen years before starting a fifteen-year career at Hallmark Cards. She retired in 1993. She enjoyed sewing and traveling but most of all loved taking care of her family. She was the last of her generation. Flossie was preceded in death by husband D.K. Jones and daughter Debra Kaye Termin. She is survived by daughter Rhonda Lee Williams, Independence, MO; grandchildren John Bassett and wife Kim, Oak Grove, MO; Lisa Gumm and husband Scott, Clinton, MO; Craig Termin and wife Amber, Blue Springs, MO; Rhonda Felty and husband Ryan; Jim Bassett and wife Jenny, all of Kansas City, MO; Stefanie Rader and husband Sam, Bellingham, WA; thirteen great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and dear friends Paul and Alice.
