Jerry Jones Sr

Jerry D. Jones, Sr., 84 of Independence, MO passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Rosewood Health Center. Services will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 6, 2014 at the Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. Burial will follow in Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. The family will greet friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the chapel. Jerry was born January 22, 1930 in Salem, AR to Maurice and Muriel (Shaw) Jones. He worked for over 60 years as a mechanic and enjoyed traveling, fishing, was a NASCAR fan and built and raced Sprint cars. He was a member of IMCA and the Automotive Union. He is survived by; his loving wife of 65 years, Thelma Jones of the home; a daughter, Vickie Jones of Independence, MO; 3 sons, Jerry Jones, Jr. and wife Nancy of Blue Springs, MO, David Jones and wife Victoria of Leavenworth, KS and Michael Jones of Warrenton, MO; 3 sisters, Wanda Kesterson of Kansas City, MO, Bertie Hules and Penny Bowers both of Independence, MO; a brother, Keith Jones of Independence, MO; 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
