Margaret Jones

Margaret “Roberta” Jones, 93 of Independence passed away, Tue. Oct 30, 2007 at her home. Graveside services will be 1:30 pm, Fri, Nov. 2, 2007 at West Point Cemetery, near Amsterdam, MO. Contributions are suggested to Christ United Methodist Church, 14506 E. 39th St. Indep. MO 64055 or to Amsterdam United Methodist Church, 282 Benton, Amsterdam, MO 64723. Mrs. Jones was born on Jul 16, 1914 in Rural Kansas. She had touched the lives of many children as a teacher in the Miami R-1 School District in Amsterdam. During WWII she had worked at the North American Airplane plant in Kansas City and also as a nurses aid in Chicago. Roberta was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family, reading and writing. After her retirement she taught adult reading classes. She was a very active member of the Amsterdam United Methodist Church and had served on many committees. Most recently she was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. Roberta was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph and a granddaughter, Tara. She is survived by a son, Darrell B. Jones and wife Kay of Independence, MO. Four grandchildren, Adam Jones, Amber Mainard, Andy Jones and Alena Jones. Four great grandchildren, Landon, Logan and Alyssa Mainard and Barrett Jones.
