Nora Lorraine Jones
Nora Lorraine Jones, 94, of Independence, died November 28, 2006 at Wilshire at Lakewood surrounded by her loving family. Visitation will be held on Thursday at Speaks Suburban Chapel from 6-8 p.m. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Interment will be in Floral Hills Cemetery.
Nora was born on May 2, 1912 in Wellington, Missouri the daughter of Clarence and Lillian Hinton. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all. Nora was a wonderful homemaker who was an excellent cook and made holidays special. She was spunky, dignified, and a perfectionist who was very particular about her appearance. She was a former member of the Independence Avenue Baptist church for over 60 years. Nora was active in the Faithful Workers Sunday School Class, a volunteer for Happy Hut Teen Town for handicapped children, and a member of V.F.W. Post #1219 Auxiliary.
She married Clyde A. Jones on May 26, 1927 and he predeceased her on May 1, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, Betty Lou, her brother William "Bill� Hinton and sister, Evelyn Pollock. She is survived by four children: Martha Yokley and husband Darrell of Independence, Donald Jones and wife Dixie of Lee�s Summit, Mo., Gary Jones of the home, and Cheryl Deis and husband John of Independence. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Pat Yokley and wife Jeanne, Martha Rosenberg and husband Phil, Claude Clardy and wife Charlene, Dawn McWilliams and husband Jerry, Rhonda Dilley and husband James, Stacey Scruggs and husband Damon, Kimberly Flathers and husband John, and David Deis and wife Dorothy; fourteen great grandchildren, Craig, Jennifer, Sean, Chad, Brian, Jeremy, Tyler, Taylor, Amanda, Parker, Ashtyn, Chandler, Krystal and Jessica; eight great great grandchildren, Philip, Connor, Cody, Amanda, Payton, Patrick, Madeline, and Derek.
