Robert Russell (Bob) Jones passed away peacefully at home in Independence, MO surrounded by Patsy, his wife of 64 years, and his beloved family and friends on August 28, 2017. Bob was born on September 12, 1933 to Raymond J. & Nannie Lou (Taylor) Jones in Nameoki, IL. He was the 4th of 5 children. Bob lost his parents at a young age, but remained close to his siblings till they passed. Bob and Patsy had four children - Patrick, Megan, Kent, and Kelly. One of which, Megan, preceded him in death. Bob’s numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, friends and family knew him as PaPa. His influence and support in their lives is his legacy. In his professional life, Robert Jones was employed by United Technologies as an adjustor for Otis Elevator Company from 1956 till his retirement in 1998. He was well respected by his peers and his commitment to being the best in his craft led him through the ranks to Regional Maintenance Supervisor. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Elevators Constructors. Bob and Patsy were members of Calvary Presbyterian Church in Independence from 1960, serving as Deacon and raising his family in the church. He was also very active in the Boy Scouts of America-Troops 356 and 226. Besides family, Bob loved the outdoors and nature. Every vacation was an adventure. He provided family and friends opportunities to camp, hunt, fish, ski, and explore by investing in, and becoming part of the Lake Nehai Tonkayea community in northern Missouri. He was also a member of the Jacomo Yacht Club and enjoyed sailing in the Gulf of Mexico. Traveling to see the grandeurs of Nature was a passion he never lost. All of us who went on journeys with him returned wiser than when we left. One of Bob’s other true enjoyments in life was music. From Pancho and Lefty, Gentle on My Mind (sleeping bag rolled up behind the couch), to the City of New Orleans, PaPa is “on the road again”.
