Stephen Raymond Jones

May 26, 1954 — March 27, 2020

Stephen Raymond Jones, 65, of Blue Springs, MO passed away Friday, March 27, 2020.

He graduated from Raytown High School in the class of 1972. He retired from Folgers Coffee after 25 years and was a very dedicated, hard-working man who never missed a single day of work in all those years! He was a dance dad, a soccer, softball, and basketball coach for all three of his children. He was a confidant and a kind spirit who brought happiness and light to all those that were blessed by his presence. He had the most beautiful smile that could light up any room. His laughter was one of kind and absolutely contagious; you could not resist to laugh along with him once you heard it. He always knew how to make a person feel loved and unique, his heart was pure and gentle. He was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of Raytown and his love for Jesus rang true in how he treated all those around him. He was a lover of classic rock but most notably, James Taylor, Journey, The Doobie Brothers and The Eagles. He loved the Eagles so much so, that on one particular family road trip he made a point to go out of the way to stop at a small gas station in Arizona just so he could get a shirt that said “Standing on a corner in Winslow, Arizona”. One of his favorite pastimes was listening to music and having jam sessions with his children and grandchildren - he was one heck of an air guitar champion. Stephen also loved to travel and getting to see new places and meet new people. He was able to travel to many places with some of his favorites being San Francisco, Sedona, Florida, and Hawaii. He was a hardcore Chiefs fan and never missed a game! Sundays were spent with the family watching the game on mute and turning on the radio to 101 The Fox; we know he was super happy to be able to see the Chiefs finally win a Super Bowl this past February!

He is survived by his wife, Judith, his children Sara and her husband Chad, Phil, Jenna and her husband Trevor, and Pamela and her husband Adam, Kimberly and her husband Tim, and Jason and his wife Beth, as well as, his grandchildren Ava, Gavin, Zane, Joshua, Kaden, Eden “Izzy”, Brennan, Arie and Christian. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and family meant everything to him!

Judith will never forget their wedding day: June 7, 2006, in Kauai, Hawaii. Surrounded by loved ones, they said their vows at sunset on the beach, then danced to their song, "I Finally Found Someone" by Barbara Streisand and Bryan Adams. They spent the next few years enjoying fun vacations together, especially the trip to Alaska. Some of Phil’s fondest memories with his dad are going to the NHRA championships in Heartland Park Topeka, learning handyman skills in their garage and seeing his dad rock out playing air guitar with his headphones on, jamming out to good music. Jenna fondly remembers spending time with her dad fishing whether alongside with her Papa in Hermitage, MO or later at her dad’s pond. One of Jenna’s favorite memories is when her dad danced at her recital with the other dance dads to “I Can’t Dance” by Genesis, he always knew how to make them laugh! Sara always loved going to Lamar’s donuts with her dad where they would each get a blueberry donut and talk about life, love, and everything in between. One of Sara’s fondest memories of her dad was when he took her to the Monday night Chiefs football game against the Chargers. It was one of the best night’s of her life with her dad! Sara always looked forward to when her dad visited her in Arizona; she will never forget the look on his face each time he saw his grandkids. Sara’s children adored their Papa and loved fishing, going boating on the lake, swimming, playing sports, and eating s’mores during his visits. Kimberly remembers all the fun family trips they took together and all the laughs and memories they made on the farm. Jason & Beth will never forget the times spent coming together for holidays and family events, the bonding, and the constant laughter.

All those that knew him, knew what it felt like to be loved unconditionally; we are all better for getting to have him in our lives here on Earth. There was truly no one like him and he will be missed terribly by so many.
