Joseph Stomboly of Independence, Missouri passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Saturday, May 25, 2024. He was 85 years old.
In Joe’s professional career, his expertise shone brightly as he worked in sales for Wilson meat company for over 20 years. He was then led to venture into entrepreneurship, owning Stomboly's deli for 8 years. Through his businesses, Joe not only provided for his family but also became a familiar face and friend to many in the community.
Not only was Joe dedicated to his career, but he also served his country with honor as a young man straight out of high school. He spent three years in the U.S. Coast Guard, demonstrating his selflessness and bravery in serving others.
Described as outgoing and full of life, Joe had a knack for striking up conversations and sharing his love for cooking and recipes with anyone willing to listen. His warm personality and genuine interest in people endeared him to all who crossed his path.
In his leisure time, Joe found joy in various hobbies and interests. From spending relaxing days camping at Bucksaw Resort to casting a line while fishing or tending to his vegetable garden, he found peace in nature's embrace. His passion for playing pool brought together friends and family for hours of fun and friendly competition.
Joe’s spirit will live on through those who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Clara; daughters, Lisa Freeman (Kevin), Kristi Dinwiddie; son, Richard Stomboly (Linda), daughter in law, Tammy Stomboly; 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Joe is preceded in death by his parents, Isaac and Nellie Stomboly; son, Tony Stomboly and son in law, Mark Dinwiddie.
