Barbara Mae Jowett, 77, of Kansas City, MO passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on January 27, 2016. A Celebration of Life will be from 1-3pm January 31, 2016 at Speaks Suburban Chapel. Barbara was born on April 2, 1938 in Toledo, OH to Robert and Marguerite (Higgins) Hale. After moving to Tucson, AZ with her family, Barbara met the love of her life, William “Bill” Jowett. They were married on August 27, 1957. Together they shared 53 wonderful years before Bill passed away in 2011. Barbara was always by Bill’s side, working in the family businesses, including Sibley Orchard, Pump Recon, and Construction Equipment Services. She retired as the family bookkeeper in 2011. In her spare time Barbara loved to travel visiting places such as Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, England, Alaska, and Hawaii. She attended Hickman Mills Church of Christ, was a member of the Red Hats, and was a volunteer for Hospice. But first and foremost family always came first, she participated in all of the family projects from airplanes to steam engines. Survivors include; sons William Edward “Billy” Jowett, Jr. and wife Kim, David Joe Jowett and wife Angela; grandchildren Josh Jowett, Jeremy Varnum and wife Camille, Lindsey Jowett Fricke and husband Travis, Chris Jowett and wife Haley, David Atkinson, and Cody Atkinson; 5 great grandchildren, and extended family and friends. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband Bill Jowett, her parents, and a brother Robert Hale. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to KC Hospice House.
