Joyce Lynn Boynton

August 23, 1941 — December 10, 2023

Joyce Lynn Boynton, 82, passed away peacefully on December 10, 2023.  She was born on August 23, 1941, in Kansas City, Missouri, where she grew up and married her sweetheart, Thomas, in 1961.  They then moved to Independence, where she raised her two sons, Thomas Jr., and Scott.

At the age of 19, Joyce started her career at the Kansas City Federal Reserve, where she worked until her retirement in 2000. She not only enjoyed her job but also formed lasting friendships, including one with her best friend, Rosie Espino.

She loved the outdoors and visiting their lake home in Stockton, Missouri, where she enjoyed camping, boating, gardening, reading, playing cards, and spending time with her boys and grandchildren.

After her husband's passing in 2017, she relocated to Jacksonville to escape the cold, to be with her son, Tom, and became a resident at Cypress Village. There, she cultivated new friendships, participated in the computer club, played cards and cribbage, and relished lunchtime with friends.

Joyce is survived by her son, Tom (Lori); grandchildren, Amy (Jared), Whitney (Jason), Carrie (Andrew), Kalli, and Tommy (Kayla); and great grandchildren, Owen, Isla, Hunter, Evelyn, and Eliza.  Her son, Scott, preceded her in death in 2006.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association at Heart.org.
