Joyce Estelle Nicodemus – 1932 – 2024
Joyce Estelle Nicodemus (92) of Independence Mo passed away on Thursday, October 30, 2024 at White Oak Living Center, Independence, MO.
Mrs. Nicodemus was born May 10, 1932 in Richmond, CA, the daughter of William T. and Esther (Pederson) McNulty.
She was a Marine Veteran, serving during the Korean Conflict. She was a member of Pebble Creek Assembly of God Church.
She enjoyed her family, her church, quilting, gardening, and many crafts.
She had been a Sunday School teacher for 22 yrs, and active in PTA and Girl Scouts. She was a life member of the CA Scholarship Federation, also a charter member of the Women’s Service Memorial in Washington, D.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William McNulty Jr., sister Alice Fornari, and sister Shirley Jackson, daughter Carol A. Dooley in 1997 and husband Billy W. Nicodemus in 2011 after 60 years of Marriage.
Her survivors are sons James W. Nicodemus and wife Marsha of Sugar Creek MO, David D. Nicodemus and wife Julie of Buckner MO, son in law William / Barbara Dooley of Lee’s Summit, MO. Four granddaughters: Leah / Eric Eickhoff of Chagrin Falls, OH, Elizabeth / Abe Forney of St. Joseph, MO, Erin / Grant Goris of Wentzville, MO, and Shannon Nicodemus of Buckner, MO. Three step grandsons: Ryan, Jeremy and Kelsey Scott. Great grandchildren: Deshaun, Ayiana, Annelise, Shanna, Wyatt, Lauren, Ryan, Naomi, Nathan, David, Ruby, Donna and Mabel. Step great-grandchildren: Jayda, Eva, Vivienne, Russell, Brett, Colton, Blake, Greyson, Natalie and Jared.
Visitation/Funeral: Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Avenue, Independence, MO. The visitation begins at 1:00 p.m., with funeral service immediately after at 2:00 p.m.
Burial with Military Honors at Mt. Washington Cemetery, 614 S. Brookside Ave, Independence, MO, immediately following service.
