Juanita Sue Leone, beloved wife, mother, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2024. She was 70 years old.
Born on December 26, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri, Juanita was a vibrant and lively soul who touched the lives of all those around her. From an early age, it was clear that she had an adventurous spirit and a heart full of love. She graduated from Northeast High School in 1971 and embarked on a journey filled with joy, compassion, and friendships that would last a lifetime. She enjoyed the Lake of the Ozarks where she owned a home for over 25 years. Juanita also lived in the Tampa Bay area of Florida for 19 years and returned to the KC area in 2023.
Juanita's energy was contagious. She possessed a spunky nature that brought laughter and happiness to those in her presence. Her warm smile and talkative nature made her easily approachable, and she had a gift for making everyone feel instantly at ease in her company. Outgoing and compassionate by nature, she found fulfillment as a caregiver throughout her life—always devoting herself to helping others in need.
In her free time, she enjoyed exploring the great outdoors and spending time with her husband, son, and friends. Whether it was motorcycles, boating, fishing, waterskiing, or hiking she found solace in nature's embrace. Juanita also enjoyed music. She was a fan of rock music and in her later years she began to enjoy country. Her love for animals added an extra dimension of excitement to her life.
Juanita will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Her impact on the lives she touched cannot be measured. May her adventurous spirit soar high above us, guiding us through our own journeys with the same love and enthusiasm she radiated throughout her life. May her memory live forever on in our hearts.
Juanita is survived by her son, Santoro Joseph Leone; her best friends for over 57 years (John and Sylvia Archer, Rita Lembke); niece Sherrie (Marty) Bell; nephew Tony (Beth) Keithley; several great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 35 years, John Leone; brothers Roy Gene and Ray Dean Keithley; and beloved friend Steve Lembke.
